Finding Wonder in the Living World

I have a suite of events in autumn 2026 linked to my new book The Nature of Seeing.
I shall be speaking with friend and brilliant polymath Charles Foster on the subject of ‘Seeing the World Afresh’. Horatio Claire, Cal Flynn, Jay Griffiths and Stephen Moss (with many others) are all at the same pioneering event Consider the Wondrous. It promises to be a Nature extravaganza. All organised by our genius master of ceremonies and author Gareth Howell-Jones.

I shall be doing a full day of activities as part of a one-off Shimpling Park Farm event. I have worked with owner Alice Pawsey for a number of years and this large organic farm has become a favourite venue. This time we pioneer a new departure: A Day of Nature Encounter.
We will go out into the Shimpling Farm lands to observe, touch and enjoy the amazing world of Nature. It is about learning to slow down and to see, listen and investigate the world around us more completely. It is also about understanding how life truly works. I’ll bring the microscopes, the moth trap, the specimens and writing. All you need is a deep sense of curiosity. I’m hoping that altogether it will be fun and instructive.
In the evening i will be in conversation with Shimpling Farm co-owner John Pawsey but there will also be a pop-up restaurant. The food is always fabulous, so the night promises to be delicious as well as (I hope) entertaining.
